Activities
From the rugged coastline and beaches, to quiet mountains and glass-still lakes, getting outdoors in Millpond isn’t a pastime - it’s a way of life. Every corner of town, in every season, offers something worth lacing your boots up for.
Wander beneath the towering trees of Welden Woods, spend slow afternoons exploring Camp Pearl Lake, or tee off at Millpond Links, where the views are just as distracting as the scorecard. Whether you prefer land, water, or somewhere in between, Millpond delivers fresh air and adventure in generous supply.
From gentle family outings to full-day explorations, there’s fun to be found at every pace… just make sure you tell someone where you’re going if you plan to explore alone.
Hiking
When the air turns crisp and the ground starts crunching beneath your boots, a walk through Welden Woods feels almost mandatory. Bring friends. Or don’t - though we really do recommend it. The forest has a way of stretching time, distance, and confidence.Winding trails lead past the remains of the old train station, long-forgotten artefacts half-swallowed by moss, and quiet clearings that carry more history than they let on. It’s the best way to explore Millpond once the town noise fades and the trees start doing the talking. If you’re venturing out after dark or planning to camp overnight, come prepared. Proper equipment is essential, and yes, a firearm isn’t the worst idea. This is Welden Woods, after all. Still, don’t let that put you off. Wander freely. Breathe it in. Just keep one ear open… and try not to lose the trail on the way back.
Golf
Millpond Links is a golfer’s dream playground, where lush fairways meet sunny skies and breathtaking mountain backdrops. Legendary course designers from New England have taken the stunning mountain scenery and turned it into a golfer’s oasis, filled with world-class courses that cater to every skill level. Whether you're driving out of the sand or just soaking in the views, these courses offer a mix of beauty, challenge, and fun.
Camping
Looking to get the kids out of the house to experience some real nature? Camp Welden has been doing that since 1968. Naturally located beside Pearl Lake in the heart of Welden Woods, the camp runs from the dawn of Summer, to the end of Summer, keeping young adventurers happily occupied all the way through. Camp Welden offers a range of outdoor activities and practical survival skills. From camping basics to fire-making. Visiting Camp Welden will transform your child from wasting time sitting in front of a video game into an outdoor survival expert!
Mountain Biking
If the call of the woods is louder than the hum of Main Street, mountain biking in Millpond is very much your thing. With lush forests, winding single-track trails, and long, quiet roads that seem designed for two wheels, it’s the perfect excuse to leave the town limits behind for a while. Push hard up King Lane toward Viewpoint Road and you’ll be rewarded with a view that makes the climb worthwhile… eventually. Prefer something a little wilder? Duck off onto the lesser-known paths threading their way through Welden Woods, where the trails are narrow, the shade is generous, and the town feels a long way off.
Shopping
There’s nothing quite like a bit of retail therapy! Millpond has been scratching that itch since 1979. A bold addition to the town - one that has certainly drawn its fair share of scrutiny over the years - it remains a dependable hub of bright lights, hangout areas, beautiful fountains and hundreds of shops that’ll give you that impulse purchase you’ll justify later! Whether you’re meeting a friend under the hum of the fluorescent lights, answering your grumbling stomach by heading to the food court, or hunting down the perfect birthday gift for someone you only remembered about at the last minute, the mall has you covered! It’s a place of comfort for all visitors, and gives you the sense that you’ve been here before… even if you haven’t.
Swimming
Outdoor swimming at Garrick Park is a must when visiting for the summer. Open seasonally from April to September, the pool offers a refreshing escape for swimmers of all ages, ranges and abilities. With a dedicated beach-style area for infants, full wheelchair access, and plenty of places to splash around, float or swim proper laps, all users can enjoy themselves. Our lifeguards are well-trained with safety at the forefront, so bring your armbands, pack the sun cream, and expect to lose track of time. Which is easy to do when the sun’s out and the pool’s calling!
