Pitch To Us
Welcome stranger, thanks for showing an interest in this humble town. Tell us your tales of the monstrous and the macabre!
I'm sure you're excited to see your story play out to the end, but we don't want chapter and verse just yet. Give us a flavor of the story you want to tell, get us just as hyped as you are to see where it leads, and make sure it fits nicely in the weird world of Millpond.

Tips
We've always believed the town has more stories than any one person could tell - which is why we’d love to hear yours. Pitches usually give us a brief set up that highlights the start of the story through to the catalyst, that first moment that sets the story in motion. If it's important that we know where it's going, give us a spoiler so we can get a wider picture of the narrative arc.
1.
An example from Everlasting Love would be:
A husband on the brink of divorce drowns his sorrows in Drakz Bar, but after an exotic, silent woman lures him into the Loomis Hotel for a night to remember, his life starts falling apart when she won't leave him alone.
(Optional) Spoiler: even after death, she still craves his love…
2.
Horror-centric - Millpond is first and foremost a platform for horror stories. Whilst there are stories that incorporate other genres, horror is the heart of this anthology. That said, experiment with throwing other genres into the mix, and no horror sub-genre is off the table! Claustrophobic folk-body horror? Melancholic arthouse splatterpunk? Liminal space nightmares? Uzi-wielding werewolves? If it works, it works!
3.
Help build Millpond - We want this town to feel lived in, with a past and a present, so referencing previous locations, characters, and even story threads helps build that world. Just be sure to tell us what year your story is set in. Anytime from 1650 to present day, or whether it’s summer or winter, or even Halloween. Building atmosphere is a key component to storytelling, so getting your reader to feel that they are part of Millpond will only heighten your story aesthetic.
4.
Don't be afraid to create new locations and characters, providing they fit the town and don't conflict with previous characters and stories. If there’s an existing story you like, then feel free to use a character from it. If you’re unsure about any crossover, please talk to us! We’re here to help and make your stories the best they can be!
Pitch Your Idea
If you have a short horror story to tell, whether it’s a subtle one, or a brutal and bombastic one, and it fits in the Millpond universe, then pitch it to us in a message!
Our Mission
Millpond exists to support new and undiscovered writers.
The idea was born when three writers hit the same wall many creatives face: closed doors, fierce competition, and few opportunities for original voices to be heard and placed in the spotlight. Instead of waiting for permission, Millpond was created as a platform to publish bold, human horror stories on our own terms.
We have a simple mission:
Encourage original storytelling.
Give emerging writers a real platform.
Build a shared universe where creativity comes first.
We want the Millpond brand to flourish into huge, exciting new areas like books, podcasts, TV shows, films, audio dramas and more!
These are stories about monsters, written by humans.
