Sites of Interest

There are certain places in Millpond that simply refuse to be skipped. The Archingold Estate - now a museum - is one of them, offering a genteel glimpse into the family that helped shape the town… at least on paper. Beyond that, Millpond rewards anyone willing to wander. A casual stroll through town reveals historic buildings, crumbling churches, forgotten corners, and landmarks with stories that have outlived the people who built them. Some are charming. Others are… less so.

If your curiosity leans toward the darker side, Millpond’s well-reviewed ghost tours come highly recommended. For the full experience, book during the spooky season or late November, when the air’s cold, the nights are long, and the stories hit a little harder. This town is packed with fascinating, and often overlooked sites, each carrying its own tales of wonder, cruelty, triumph, and quiet horror. They’re all part of Millpond’s fabric, and all worth discovering. We’ve listed a few to get you started, but if you uncover something yourself, be sure to tell us. Millpond loves a new story.

The Archingold Estate

Where better to start a tour of Millpond than at the Archingold Estate in Charleston. Explore the rich history of our founding father, Ambrose Archingold who resided in this glorious mansion along with his family, while he built an empire of ammunition trading and weapons manufacturing. Learn how he transformed Millpond from just farmland into what you see today. The estate is now one of Millpond’s most visited attractions and was turned into a museum in early 2003. A must-see for new visitors!

St Thomas’ Church

St Thomas’ Church is the oldest structure in all of Millpond. Built back in 1640, it offered the local community a safe haven and a place of worship. Having the been the centre of town for decades, the church now stands on the fringes of new construction. With the ever popular Millpond Mall standing in its backdrop, St Thomas’ Church is a mere relic to the times long forgotten. But within these walls is a history of blood, betrayal and diminishing faith. Now protected as part of the Millpond Museum, guests can enjoy a private tour around the ruins to better understand its past.

Smileland Amusement Park

Now a rusty abandoned maze of decay and overgrown weeds, Smileland Amusement Park brought decades of happiness to the teens of Millpond throughout the late 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Often wrongly assumed to be named after the smiles on the faces of all that visited, Smileland is named after the expression your face is forced into when hitting 4Gs of force on the parks pinnacle ride - The Smile-Coaster.
